PC gamers with an Epic Games Store account (it’s free) can pick up Call of the Sea, a narrative puzzle adventure where the player is a young widow searching for the answer to her husband’s disappearance on a South Pacific expedition.
Call of the Sea, by Out of the Blue Games, launched in December 2020 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Though the game’s story is inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, director Tatiana Delgado said Call of the Sea is explicitly not a horror game; it’s a mystery with supernatural elements.
Call of the Sea is available to claim now, but only for the next seven days. Last week’s free game, Rise of Industry, is back in the marketplace at its regular price.
The Epic Games Store freebies are available to anyone who has an Epic Games Store account; they’ll be added to your library and launched from there. Epic has been giving away free games on a weekly basis, as an inducement to join the store (and play Epic’s own games, such as Fortnite), since it launched in December 2018.
The next free game coming to Epic Games Store account-holders will be Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War, an empire-building, turn-based strategy adaptation of the Games Workshop franchise that launched in 2018. Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War will be available beginning March 16.
When does the Epic Games Store update with free games?
Typically, Epic refreshes its lineup of free games every Thursday at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT.
